The Westergasterras is an informal and cosy place with an urban edge. The Westergas terrain, situated in the Westerpark, used to house a factory but was transformed years ago into a popular cultural area with several restaurants & bars, a cinema, and occasional art and music festivals.
We will all sit and eat at tables scattered around the Westergasterras, where wine in all colors and water are abundant!! Other drinks can be ordered at the bar. Meanwhile, a DJ will play a nice tune.
Dinner will be a Mediterranean style tapas buffet, with a broad range of veggie, fish, and meat dishes.
For dessert we will have a good, and rather flammable surprise!

N.B. Please wear your ‘conference pin’ to the dinner! This will make it a lot easier for the waiters to recognize you as one of the conference guests.

You’ll find the Westergasterras just opposite the ‘Gasholder’ (huge round building) on the Westergasfactory terrain in the Westerpark.
There are five ways to reach Westergasterras: by bike, by car, by taxi, by bus and by tram.

Bike: The Westergasterras is easily reached by bike. Once you are on the Westergasterrain you head towards the Gasholder and you’ll see a sign that points out the restaurant.

Car: We certainly wouldn’t advise you to travel by car, but if you insist: there are expensive parking spaces along the Haarlemmerweg and you can park in the parkinglot called ‘Westersluis’ which is at the corner Haarlemmerweg/Van Slingelandtstraat opposite the Westergasterrain.
Without a membershipcard you can park here till 12 pm (it will cost you €6,50).

Or: simply take a taxi. A taxi going from Central Station to the Westergasterrain shouldn’t cost more than €10,-. You can order one at the following phonenumber: 0900 9292 (€0.70 p/m), or get one at the Central Station.

Public Transport:

*By Bus no 18 get off at Van der Hoopstraat. From here it’s a five minute walk: You to take a right into de Van Limburg Stirum Straat. Exit the street towards Haarlemmerweg, cross the Haarlemmerweg and walk leftwards until you see a modern bridge on your right hand, cross the bridge and walk straight ahead towards the Gasholder and you will see it on your right hand after approx. 300 meters.
Bus 18 leaves from Central Station at 18.46hrs; 18.56hrs; 19.11hrs.

*By Bus no 46 get off at Van Limburg Stirum Straat. From here it’s a five minute walk: Walk out of the Street towards Haarlemmerweg, cross the Haarlemmerweg and walk leftwards until you see a modern bridge on your right hand, cross the bridge and walk straight ahead towards the G and you will see it on your right hand after approx. 300 meters.
Bus 46 leaves from Central Station at 18.55hrs.

*By Tram no 13 (leaving from CS at 18.45hrs; 18.57hrs; 19.09hrs), get off at Damsquare and take tram 10 that leaves behind the palace (which is at the Damsquare).

*Tram no 10 leaves behind the Damsquare (on the Westside), at the Rozengracht stop at 18.43hrs; 18.53hrs; 19.03hrs; 19.15hrs, get off at Van Limburg Stirum Straat. From here it’s a five minute walk: Walk out of the Street towards Haarlemmerweg, cross the Haarlemmerweg and walk leftwards until you see a modern bridge on your right hand, cross the bridge and walk straight ahead towards the G and you will see it on your right hand after approx. 300 meters.

Tram 10 leaves Van Limburg Stirum Straat at 22.01hrs; 22.16hrs; 22.31hrs; 22.46hrs; 23.01hrs; 23.16hrs; 23.31hrs; 22.46hrs and the last one leaving at 00.01hrs!

Bus 18 leaves Van der Hoopstraat at 22.05hrs; 22.20hrs; 22.35hrs; 22.50hrs; 23.05hrs; 23.20hrs; 23.35hrs; 23.50hrs; 00.05hrs; 00.20hrs and the last leaving 00.35hrs!

Dinner will be a buffet in Mediterranean style: Tapas! There will be a broad range of dishes of fish, meat, and several vegetarian ones.
